Good packing is the difference between a smooth move and broken belongings. Even if professionals pack for you, knowing the right order helps you stay organised.

Start early, room by room

Pack the rooms you use least first:

• Store room and spare rooms first.
• Kitchen and bedroom last (you use them till the end).
• Pack a separate 'first-night' essentials box.

Protect the fragile stuff

Kitchenware, electronics, and glass need extra care:

• Wrap crockery individually in bubble wrap or paper.
• Use original boxes for TVs and appliances if you have them.
• Mark fragile boxes clearly on all sides.
• Photograph electronics before disconnecting for easy reassembly.

Label everything

Label each box with the room and contents. It makes unpacking at your new home far faster — and helps the movers place boxes in the right rooms.
